Hello Team Leaders,     April 2011

Attendees:        Marilyn Rabideau

               Gladys Nickodem
               Sharon Schneider
               Tim Wentworth
               Mary Vandevoorde
               Corey Kirch

We wish to thank Darlene and Paul Gast for their very generous gifts of love and labor—150 handmade
wooden crosses, one for each family in the congregation -- and extras for those friends who wish to have
one.  They are beautiful and meaningful.
We wish to thank Karen Bialikowski and Paula Skorczewski for their compassion demonstrated as they
call on and share books dealing with those members who are grieving -- presently about 10 families.
They also are attending training sessions with Ann Froelich, Pastoral Associate at St. Matt's on Webster
Street in Allouez, toward the end of March. She will be presenting helpful tips on leading grief support
meetings.
Bethany, Pastor and Jairo were very pleased with the number of attendees at the Hispanic Service this
Sunday.  Approximately 51 attended, including children.  The most amazing news, however, is that we
now have 23 children in first communion classes, children ranging from 2-6th grade.  6 children are from
our current congregation, and the others are new potential members from the Hispanic population.  Word
travels fast!

Corey Kirch came to share all the work he has done for Atonement’s website and demonstrated how to
navigate within the site.  He has spent many hours creating and editing it, and donated the site to
Atonement.  It is very informative and easy to use.  Please check it out at atonementlutheranchurchgb.
com and thank him for his hard work.
We welcome Kim Reeves as the new leader for the Brunch Feast.  Most gratefully, we are told that the
Schneider Family will also assist her in this new responsibility.
The Carpet Fund now has $13,093.89 in it, so we will have enough to do the Narthex and the hall if we
receive only $4000 more.  Thank you, Gladys, for all the bookkeeping you have been keeping track of for
U2S…it is a time-consuming endeavor.
United 2 Serve donations of $966 were received this past month, with $305 designated for specific
items.  20% of the $661 will be alloted for the Accelerated Debt Retirement fund, as we intend to do
each month.

Painting will begin in the back hall this Saturday and Sunday.  Craig Schneider, Pastor and Dave Haefs
have stepped up to the plate to get things “rolling.”  We welcome others to show-up and grab a
paintbrush, too.  Colors have been chosen to match the new carpeting.  The baseboard has already
been removed.  Corey has offered to bring cardboard to help protect things from Dave’s electric sprayer.
Two Brat Sales have been set up for fundraising, one on April 9th at Copps East, and the other on June
23rd, at Festival East.  Please join the fun by signing up in the narthex at our beautiful information booth.

The Chicken Dinner is well planned, with music entertainment as a new addition this year.  The Silent
Auction begins at 4:30, Saturday, March 26th.  Music begins in the Sanctuary at 4:45 and continues
intermittently until dinner is served at 6 pm.  An oral auction will be another new addition this year, for a
few select items, with the audacious and talented Tim Wentworth calling the items for us immediately
after dinner.  The CMG group and the choir will entertain in the fellowship hall during the meal as well.
Gene Vandevoord is planning the music program for us.  We are looking for additional men and teens to
help serve the meal.  The choir members will be cooking the all-you-can-eat style dinner, once again.
Donna Aznoe is in charge of the auction, so please bring your items to her.  Gladys and Sharon will plan
the meal.  Pastor has offered to organize the kitchen worker-men and teens.  Everyone is excited to be
part of the fundraiser, which will benefit the carpet fund.

Tim Wentworth is our liaison between U2S and Council, as he is a new member on both committees, so
information will flow smoothly!

Thank you Mary Vandevoorde for creating the newsletter each month for U2S….it is always done with
such creativity and care—we appreciate your efforts.

Sincerely submitted by,

Sharon Schneider
