United 2 Serve Minutes
Monday, 7:30 p.m. 10-10-11
· Current Business
Gladys gave a report on the donations. We will have about $400
remaining as our balance in U2S funds, if and after all requests are
granted and submitted.
· Requests for Distribution of Funds
Leaders agreed that U2S funds be requested for the New Orleans
mission trip-$500. $50 more is requested for the Dessert Feast, as
a very special cake has been ordered in the shape of a shovel to
help celebrate the anniversary of the ground breaking 50 years
ago. Money was requested for the seminarian team as well, but
there are donations of $135 already in their fund, so no more is
needed at this time. $200 is requested for the visitor gift bags—
enough to purchase items and have things in reserve for a couple of
months. $75 for the December Live Nativity expenses are also
requested.
· New Priorities and Visions—All responses from this Sunday’s
written surveys were tallied and organized in a spreadsheet—
signaling our member’s interests. Leaders expressed immediate
interest in installing H20 and Elec. hookups outdoors, Adopt-A-
Family, Military Family support, Soldier support, homeless support,
small groups, baby shower, quilts, & other ventures, but not
necessarily the Good Samaritan gift cards nor the Bike Rodeo. An
attachment will be sent with the summary of the survey.
· Active Leaders Judy will continue to assist Mary Ann Larsen
and Diane Whiting make the gift bags etc., but will not be the
primary leader. We are most grateful for Judy’s leadership AND
the energy she spent cleaning bathrooms in the church this past
week. Randy will continue as spokesperson for U2S during
services. Sharon will continue as Program Leader; Gladys will
continue to organize our bookkeeping; Sarah is very interested in
taking a leadership role for the shelters; Mary Vandevoorde will
continue doing the excellent job she does with the U2S Newsletter.
Jason Bergstrom has been our media person and hopefully will
continue. Sarah even expressed interest in helping the Keim family
on their Mexico Trip. Mary Ann will continue with the World Fair
Trade project. We expect others will come forward to announce
the areas that they are interested in and for which they will offer to
give of themselves. We wait to hear.
· Connect Areas with U2S and Council Members –We intend to
coordinate efforts between the two groups.
· Dessert Feast Randy and Kim Reeves are taking
responsibility for it—setting up on Friday, Oct. 21. They are highly
organized and have things under control.
· Concert October 24th, Monday Evening—many homes have
been offered for housing. Food offerings are still needed. Sharon
will do the bread for everyone, #’s needed.
